“C’mon, lech. Seriously. You’ve never looked at a painting or a drawing and seen some little nuance of something that made you stop and wonder at it? The colors? The line? The subject? The scale? The finesse? The perspective?”
Well, I think this tells us everything we needed to know.
LECH IS AN ALIEN!!! : P

Heya Legion! Still around. Very busy at work so I don’t get to comment much but try to catch up on Bstoner and OT reading on the train home.
Lot’s of things happening in the office and toy industry overall (Good and Bad). Nothing relating to me or my career though (things are actually looking better and better for me here). Looks like I might be doing a bit more traveling than I’d like but the traveling would be fairly close to where Etson is residing now so maybe we’ll be having drinks at the US/Canada border at some point in the next year.
I just don’t really get any more enjoyment out of looking at a painting in the Prado or whatever than I do looking at a blank wall. I know it’s something you’re supposed to do and all, so I’ve been to a lot of the great art museums of the world and studied art and seen lots of it, but it literally registers a zero with me when I look at it. Absolute flatline. I could be looking at a blank wall and would have the same reaction. Actually blank walls aren’t crowded with annoying eurotrash tourists so I guess I probably prefer the blank wall.
I have such a huge artists love list- Vermeer, the Van Eycks, the Limbourg Brothers for a few. Miro- not so much but Calder- oh yes! Charles Burchfield, the Brandywine school, folk art… I’ll go on for days 🙂 But my all time favorite artist is Michelangelo.
Lech- that’s really too bad. I’m with cobble- nothing to say when someone claims art never touched them.

Nope. Dead serious. Total flatline.

Oy! Prado! I forgot Bosch! I love Bosch!!
I guess I kind of like the Hieronymous Bosch (sp?) paintings at the Prado.
The whole art collecting world is just a bunch of fart sniffing.

Cobble;
No, it is a 501 (c) 8.
Thanks for the tips. I’m going to look for a new accountant for next year.
“501C charitable/fraternal organization”
Is it a 501 (c) 3? That’s what my org is, very simple to file if income is below a certain level.
