DH, that’s the issue with those smaller cities. have a job, it’s great. lose the job then try looking for another one, oh shit. if not for that, I would move my ass to Richmond.
“DH, how’s the job mkt down there or you thinking of it as a post retirement gig?”
there’s some big companies that have offices down there, but overall, not many jobs.
real estate is SOOO freakin cheap tho – 6 bedroom houses for around 100k far nicer than most stuff in brooklyn.
pretty much encountered everything in brooklyn that i like, without the pretention (and 1/4 the price). the bywater nabe is very williamsburg/bushwicky.
I went to my first ever Jewish wedding this Saturday. I had always thought the song “Hava Negilah” was some kind of old world element of Jewish culture and was mildly offensive to bring up, like a part of the past people were embarrassed about and would rather forget. when it was the second song played (after the bride and her father slow-danced) I was like, huh?
The circle dance rocked! It went on for like 20 minutes and I thought the band’s arms were going to fall off. The bride and groom sat and people would do individual dances in front of them to “entertain” them – the groom said afterward usually nothing happens but not this time. I had a small book with me and contemplated pretendeing I was reading a prayer book and “blessing” them but didn’t have the courage to do it unrehearsed.
Then the sister of the groom had a 1 1/2 year old who kept following me around on the dance floor and grasping my index finger to dance with me. When I went to the brunch they had at the groom’s parents’ home the next day, she began following me around again! It was adorable.
i don’t know why i even bother posting in threads outside of the OT. apparently ive “set the bar” quite high for making ridiculous comments… i must be completely oblivious or totally self unaware cuz aint nothing ridiculous about questioning why someone would have ten pomeranians!

dh — while you’re in NOLA, if Mid-City Lanes is in business, with music, you should make a trek there.
Rob, onto more important things. were you able to cash your payroll chk?
Obviously you hit a sore point with that person who responded, rob. Probably had trouble with his lover.

“Sorry I didn’t text back yet, but I was tied up last night.”
haha – yeah, i guess things ARE going well! 😉
New Orleans is great. I could definitely see myself living down there. I forget who was dissing it last week, but you’re 100% wrong.
