rob – you’d love it down there. rents are like 300 a month, and you could sit in this park and do tarot card readings all day (it’s like their mecca) – also – newports are 2.80 a pack and you can drink 40s on the street.

    whoa my god, seriously?

from what i understand from the people i was talking to, the french quarter was alright during katrina (huge mansions there are like 900kish) – the area i was in that looked cool was about 3 miles outside the quarter, in the lower ninth ward (but on the other side of the river, so it wasn’t decimated) – obviously once you cross the river, it’s like a 3rd world country.

no idea if it’s even possible to get a mortgage down there without paying an insane amt of flood insurance or something.

  3. ‘are there a lot of moonfaces down there in new orleans? i know after the hurricane tons of do-gooders went down there but im chary to call them moonfaces, but just wondering if after they left, who came in afterwards..’

not really “moonfaces” – there’s definitely some white kids from other states who have settled down there, but they’re just chillin.

  5. “dh — while you’re in NOLA, if Mid-City Lanes is in business, with music, you should make a trek there. ”

I’ll have to check it out next time i’m down there – went to a few of the places on frenchman st and they were great.

  6. “real estate is SOOO freakin cheap tho – 6 bedroom houses for around 100k far nicer than most stuff in brooklyn.”
