True, the pols love to dump on the Chinese currency thing. Makes for good, easy soundbites.

We could talk about poisonous Chinese drywall, food, toys, intellectual theft or our property, and the loss of our jobs due to illegal Chinese guvment export and loan guarantees (did anyone read about he loss of 400 solar panel jobs in Mass)?

I’m sure all the finance experts here are aware a Chinese citizen isn’t even allowed to own a single share of stock in an overseas company.

Yeah, that’s all a good start. Intellectual property theft is major. Strange silence on North Korea’s firing on its southern neighbor and missle testing over the region is another.

  2. “It’s too goddamn hot in nola and too goddamn cold in QC. Biff, are you some kind of masochist?”

I hang out in the OT all day, so obviously I am.

But the the solution is to spend time in summer in QC and winter in NOLA.

  3. I <3 N’awlins.
I always imagined me in a big full length hoop skirt on the veranda in one of the southern homes in the Garden District.
We have friends who own a house off of Magazine Street (mardi gras parade runs along it) but they don’t have a veranda 🙁 but I do own the under thingy of a hoop skirt; the big voluminous thing that makes the skirt wide.
One day…and watch out Scarlett O’hara.

haha – it was 63 degrees and sunny on sunday! i’d take temperate winters and hot summers over nasty winters and nasty summers anyday!

  6. Because New Orleans was actually governed by the French and the Spanish before we bought it, it does have a colorful, foreign feel to it. My favorite tour down there is Friends of the Cabildo, which is a great organization which gives tours of the French quarter and whose docents are really knowledgeable.

OTOH, my theory about NOLA is that alcohol has done serious brain damage down there. I think that a major percentage of the population is either an alcoholic or suffering from Fetal Alcohol syndrome. I met some real characters down there; too much booze and dissapation sort of freaks me out. That place is not my ambiance.
