“Rob, I think I read something last spring about the FAA tweaking the flight routes into all 3 major airports to make things more efficient.
One of those tweaks included a landing pattern for LaGuardia that routes many planes over Prospect Park/Park slope.”
more efficient? what poor neighborhood are the planes gonna fly over now?

I have a nice south facing view, and at night I can often see 3 or 4 planes lined up on the landing approach.
I saw Dershowitz’s remarks. I’m often less quick than he is to detect anti-semitism and I do not think Palin intended anti-semitism. I disagree with him somewhat on this, though. It is term with meaning that is even more highly charged than it sounds at face value. Whether Palin knew or not of the real meaning or blood libel, and whether or not she had the same perspective as Dershowitz on the term before she used it, I still think it reflects poor judgment on her part to use it. She could have made exactly the same point without ratcheting the rhetoric up that high or invoking, knowingly or not, that degree of victimization. So I don’t give her the free pass on it that he does. Politics aside, I think she is a master at slyly provoking rhetorical fights and then pointing out how she is being attacked. She keeps herself front and center in so many stories this way. I like to think of moments like these as auditions. Outside of speeches and debates, we get a glimpse of how someone who might be seeking executive office might govern. She did not rise to the occasion in my book.
OH at the supermarket last night i was evesdropping on two older park slope ladies who were talking about their adult children and one was saying that her daughter is freelancing and can’t find anything steady (no clue what industry she was talking about tho) and that the reason is “because so many people took advantage there is nothing left for the young kids” i wonder how much truth there is to that or not. it does seem like people took advantage in the 80s and 90s and early 00’s, advantage of what im not sure. lots of industries these days do seem like rape victims.
Lech, I NEVER assume I’m safe but rather the reverse – ie I’ve already packed my stuff into the box under my desk. when I survive the cuts, I unpack. been doing this routine the last 3 yrs. they dont give you much time to pack so I rather pack the pics etc myself than to trust they pack it neatly & completely then send to my home. the firing has been so frequent that I’ve long become indifferent to it.
re: the helicopter ban cuz of noise article in links… okay not a helicopter, ive brought this up before but im getting really sick of all the planes that fly over park slope. why have never noticed this before? only in the last few months… and everytime a plane flies overhead, which in the early evening seems to be like ever 5 minutes or so, my internet wifi freezes while they fly over head, and the reception on the tv farts out. sometimes the internet needs to be reset and the attennae on the tv readjusted. it’s SO annoying. this only seems to have become an issue in the last few months. does anyone know why this is occurring?

I realize we will disagree on this.

Rob, the cause is alien spacecraft. Google “Palladians” for further explanation.
