As for parallels, Obama has been far more graceful re birthers than Palin has been about the Giffords shooting. The fact that she is so defensive is because she knows she was an ass with that map, and that she contributes to the violent rhetoric that had made politics in this country so toxic. She never accepts responsibility for what she says. A less Presidential human being I can’t imagine.
