  1. OK, late to this one. Peter Paul and Mary, I get. An outdated caricature of liberals, but one that’s still worth a chuckle, even from my side of the aisle. But Paul McCartney? Solo? Wings? With Michael Jackson? This is the stuff righties think is at the core of leftie cultural tastes? Someone’s cultural antennae needs retuning.

Meanwhile, I was happy to hear a short blast of Steve Martin doing King Tut on NPR’s story on the end of the King Tut exhibit tour. Got a condo made of stone-ah!

  2. Cgar I came to Monteros after all your non-blog friends left [I still think your non blog friends are just a figment of your imagination and you know that you have no friends besides us :o).]

  3. “you’re a nice smart dude but dont see presidential material. president’s secretary – YES. President – NO”

I don’t have presidential aspirations, m4l. I’m perfectly happy in my position as President Champion’s Chief of Staff. As Leo McGarry said to Josh Lyman on The West Wing: “I want to be the guy that the guy depends on.”

  4. A lot of Canada isn’t that liberal. Just a lot of the press, as in the US, UK, etc etc
We have a new tax-cutting Tea Partyesque mayor in Toronto. The liberal press hates him, although he won by a mile.
Montreal is probably a better bet for liberals. They have lots of sidewalk cafes and speak sorta French there.

  5. Kens, Obama started getting grey hair during the nomination battle with Hillary. He puts stuff on it sometimes and cuts it short, but sometimes he just lets it grow and it is really grey.

Re draft, we had a draft all the way through the Vietnam war. When the draft was ended protest died down – Nixon knew what he was doing. I have often thought that if we didn’t have an all volunteer army, we would have a country that thought a lot more deeply about what they were doing overseas.
