This guy was kneeling on the sidewalk by the Shell station on Atlantic & Henry last week, and he’s got his back to one of the tow trucks, which is barreling into him, unbeknownst to him or the tow truck driver. So I started shouting at both of them, and, otherwise the guy kneeling down would’ve been run over. In fairness to the driver, the guy should NOT have been kneeling there.
People who live in the vicinity have almost certainly seen him: Definitely something not right with him. Homeless? Always carrying a broom and staying close to the ground sweeping sidewalks in front of businesses, which must give him food and/or money.
Blowfish the driver was probably texting. I have been looking inside cars driving erratically (on the Williamsburg Bridge where you hang off over the water and the lanes are narrow! OMG!) and you’d be surprised how many people are peering at their phones.
thanks, all, for the sympathy. I am getting madder and madder at this bitch driver. And when I called the precinct, they said, accusingly, that my daughter LEFT THE SCENE OF THE CRIME, like that made her a criminal to be hit by a hit-and-run car!
I called the community affairs office and they said they would take a report. So we don’t have to go to the scene of the crime 21 hours later (after school) and call 911 like the first cop told me. What morons.
Blowfish, no biggie. I have posted my name here by accident more than once! Also my daughter’s name, oh well. We both know our names so I guess it’s ok, even though we play secret agent here (except Pete and Dave of course).
i actually got bumped by car when crossing an intersection a few weeks ago- it drove into my knees- i wobbled, but did not fall (suprisingly, since i’m hugely preggo), so not as bad as rf’s daughter. the driver was just not looking. even after contact, he continued to to drift foward, looking down the road, and i had to bang on his hood. he snapped out of it and looked at me and looked totally freaked out, as did onlookers. i just kept going.
(rf- I’m late to the game, but glad your daughter’s okay. damn. That intersection sucks, with the weird lights on fulton and the lack of a crosswalk on one side.)

“but now i know your name, haha. (is this creepy?)”
I know your name. You know my name. What’s creepy? As long as personal deets stay off the OT, it’s all good.
I think this is the first time legislation has actually been passed to stop them though. Is that right?
(Blood libel- can that woman be any more stupid or venal?)
