  1. Saw a very nice house right near Dobbs Ferry village yesterday. About a two minute walk (at most) to the train station. Three minute walk to the library and downtown.

Studley McPimperston (the realtor whose bio I linked on Friday) showed us the place.

    Seriously considering.

Also saw some places in Irvington. Great town, but the downtown waterfront is dominated on one side by a huge estate owned by someone I used to work for, and that would get annoying.

  2. “Good question about how it could’ve been forestalled.”

I know and agree Arkady. I think he was kicked out of one class at one point, and told that he was not allowed to return until he got a psychiatric clearance. I don’t know what the answer is, though I would think putting him on a watch list of people who are prohibited from buying guns would have been a great place to start.

  3. I read an article this morning where the basic idea was that the shooting might have still happened with tighter gun control laws, but the death toll would have been lower.

Apparently, this type of simi-automatic, large clip gun was legally restricted in the past, but no longer is.

  4. if we think the US econ would recover, commercial ppties are something worth investing in – ie there are 10 to 12% cap rate ppties in places like N Carolina, Virginia, Georgia,…

  5. http://www.nytimes.com/2011/01/07/us/politics/07constitution.html

In consultation with the Congressional Research Service and others, the leaders of the House had decided to read a version of the Constitution that was edited to exclude those portions superseded by amendments — including amendments themselves — preventing lawmakers from having to make references to slaves, referred to in Article I, Section 2 as “three fifths of all other Persons” or to failed experiments like Prohibition. Members were not provided with the version before the reading began.

  6. Does it mean I am an emerging market when I crawl out of my cat door?
Several other paragraphs in the *original* (i.e. as written) Constitution were also skipped even as Scalia insists that the idea of slaves or women having the vote or getting equal protection under the law doesn’t gibe!
CatGar – Times today says that several people reported the odd/threatening behavior of Loughlin but nothing could be done about it – he couldn’t even be kicked out of class when he was disruptive (law officers stood by instead) nor could he be forced to see a psychiatrist. Good question about how it could’ve been forestalled.
