Just wanted you to know that I had alot of fun Saturday on our tour of Southern Brooklyn. It was a fun sort of “rolling OT”. Also, I’m more comfortable in small social settings than parties, so I’m glad we had the chance to rerally talk during our lunch.
Folks;
Here were some of the non-architectural points from our tour:
-showed them funeral parlor where the mafioso’s like to be laid out.
-house where the actor who played “Tonto” in the lone ranger lived.
-house in Dyker Heights that was long-rumored to belong to Al Pacino. He used it as a place to live in a Brooklyn neighborhood, when he wanted to “go real” again.
-house wehre I was raised.
-lunch at “La Palina”, best red-sauce joint in Gravesend, imho. While we were there, there was a raucous family-gathering going on. We were told that it was a post-funeral lunch. It seemed like they were happy the guy croaked!!!
-a “swanky” apartment building (Montrose can explain what that means).
cmu, couln’t agree more.
Slopey, same thing. As usual, you simply ‘get it’.
Lechacal, I’ll be happy to help you pack if you’ll get the pizza and beer. You had to know there was a damn good reason we hadn’t moved to Brooklyn yet.
Benson, I usually don’t get the strong negative reaction to some of your remarks. I do today.
The idea that we on the left are “politicizing” this tragedy to vomit-inducing levels is horseshit. The politicization of hatred of government, and the vitriol used to describe it, has reached nuclear mass. It needs to stop. It IS dangerous. The nutcases ARE listening. Of course this psychopath did the shooting, but do you truly not understand the concept of enticement? Things don’t happen in a vacuum.
Of course vitriol and hate stacks up on both sides, but please. There cannot be a serious comparison made. I understand that no one can risk a charge of ‘liberal bias’ and so must call for change on both sides, but give me a break. Can we please be at least a little bit honest?
The outrage from the right this past day and a half in response to some ‘leftie’ folks calling out the cowboy vitriol and shooting rhetoric and relaxed gun laws – particularly in AZ – is unbelievable.
Man up for god’s sake, to use a ridiculous expression. Take some responsibility. The outrage and attempts at mocking those of us who are bringing up Sarah Palin (and others) and her map with regard to this tragedy, is what induces nausea.
Agree with it or not, this was certainly an occasion for which questions of motive and incitement will be argued, rightfully, for a long time to come. But you can’t argue that the “lock and load”/”take up your arms” rhetoric of American politics is just an overheated metaphor — can you? Seriously?
I woke up on New Year’s Day with a terrible tummy ache and corresponding activity. Slept all day, started feeling better by the next day, but it was a few days before I could eat normally and I wasn’t feeling 100 percent for a week. I was worried I was coming down with the Cobblesnaps-Cgar flu, but I don’t think so.
The flu I had only made me throw up once, and I think that was because I coughed too hard. Otherwise, no vomiting. Also, houseguest did not vomit.
Montrose and Donatella;

So, CGar, that is the Christian defination of godparents. What are a Jewish godparents’ responsibilies? Same?
doesn’t sound like flu. A virus likely. If had influenza not going to be eating anything – and not going to be getting out of bed and very high fever.

you do not want to become a butterfly… trust me.

donatella, Jews have godparents, too, so nothing to do with the baptism. With Jewish boys, godparents are often announced at the Bris.
dh, you probably could. They are pretty lax about mid-contract upgrading and threatening will work.
