  1. 1. Regarding bullying, kids need to either negotiate, clown or somehow finesse their way through problems but when all that fails, defend and kick ass. I always remember the advice in Liars’s Club from to little Mary Karr, tiny little girl dealing with bullys “Lay the ivories on ’em, Pokey.” She was a good biter. I only once got in a fist fight, I was very small/short until high school, but had a big mouth and was very fast.

    2. Re school, kids need to learn concrete skills. They need to develop reading skills, learn mathematics, science, learn history etc. but we got too much fear as kids, too much hitting and rote. The best system is somewhere in between. Teams are ok, but traditional tests and projects are good. Parents need to be paying attention but NEVER doing anything. My parents never knew what I was doing. They didn’t have time. They just always said “you always do well.” oh well. I used to do everything on my own.

  2. Really? Harping on the President’s footwear? Is that all you nutballs have to go on? Crap on a cracker, politics has become so insane. I’m half way to wishing Obama doesn’t get re-elected just so this inane bullshit will stop.
