I went to a party once and met someone who invited me to be in one of his movies. He was a director who made gorey horror movies. All right, now I am going back to work. See ya later.
Why don’t you come to any Brownstoner events, ET? We can compliment one another and form a mutual admiration society….to offset the noxious influences of life in general.
I was reading something Ben Stein wrote about Nixon, how Nixon was (paraphrasing here) an opportunist like them all but he would have prevented the Cambodian genocide.
I agree about Pataki. In fact, let me tell you about my experience with Pataki and his mentality.
I used to be fairly active in the New York State Conservative party. I was at a party business meeting when I learned that they were going to endorse Pataki, in his last run for governor. I exploded at that meeting, telling the party offiers that I was going to quit the Party for abandoning its principles.
Pataki sent a representative to see me and try to soothe me over. It was some dingbat with the title of “The governor’s liason to Italian -Americans”. I was further enraged that he thought my objections could be addressed by some ethnic-pandering idiot. I quit the NYS Conservative Party at that point. It’s no accident that the party hasn’t fared well in NYS. You can thank Al D’Amato and George Pataki, practitioners of cyncial politics.
ET, I recently bought a pair of the more conservative “platform” heels. They look great, but like someone said yesterday, you can only wear them for 38 minutes. And that is on solid ground, not subways or like a regular urban woman. These stilletos are made for real life. (haha Eartha Kitt…. RIP Eartha)

“We need to re-animate Calvin Coolidge’s corpse and elect him for another term. He would have the country whipped back into shape in no time.”

Make that “cynical”. One of these days, I’ll proof-read my posts before hitting the “send” button.

I have a hard time hating on Carter, since he was such a nice guy and a great diplomat during and after his presidency.
He was a pretty crummy president, but probably the best former president since Taft.
