Benson — I am going to sidestep partisan wrangling and just comment on your list (read to the end before sparring).
Cuomo — interestingly, he didn’t really govern to match his rhetoric. Very few real legislative achievements, other than a substantial reduction in marginal tax rates back when the State was flush around ’85 or so. Mandatory seat belt laws, anyone? 3 terms and a big national profile should have amounted to more. But he was an ok caretaker, not truly awful.
Pataki — same critique as Cuomo, but from GOP side. A caretaker. Not awful.
Dinkins — After a bad first eyar, governed somewaht better than his style suggests. Crime did go down substantially after the first year surge, though not as fast as under Rudy and Bloomie. Ineffective, but less bad in fact than he seemed.
Carter — Not so good but not worse than Bush II in terms of governance. Was Iran kidnapping worse than 9/11? Late 70s inflation/stagnation worse than the recession Bush left us?
Abzug — this is the one that surprises me on the list. A legislator, not an executive, her peers in Congress on both sides of the aisle consistently voted her among the most effective members of congress. Her mistake was giving up her seat and then perpetually running for offices she couldn’t win.
I sense what you don’t like about the middle three is how rhetorically weak and wishy washy they all were. Perhaps with Cuomo it was the perpetual Hamlet on the Hudson act. But Abzug basically has your mouth but from the opposite perspective. I’m surprised you don’t respect that. (Not that I’m a fan, I had a few miserable run-ins with her. She was a miserable person, but I do think a skilled and effective politician.)
Finally, you really think all 5 are worse than either Spitzer or Paterson? I would rank client 9 in my bottom 5 — he came in with soooo much political capital to reform Albany and had squandered it all so completely within months that he made Silver and Bruno seem sympathetic as the recipients of his overly personalized antagonism, even before we ever heard about his indiscretions. He accomplished less than nothing and then threw it all away. How can you top that?
ET, Platform heels are ones that have between 1/4 inch to one inch of height on the soles of the shoes so that you can add equivalent or more “inchage” to the heel. So you are clomping around like a giraffe. I got a pair that made the heels around 4 inches.
D-Cat, you have a lot of good ideas.
Ok, I have to get back to collapsing commodities. Stock market rally means profittaking in oil and other stuff.
i saw reanimator, at a little theater in the east village, about 7 years ago. io wonder if its still there. that halloween, i dressed as the blonde girlfriend who died from that severed hand choking her…
George Pataki had no principles whatsoever. He would put his finger to the wind, and that would be his position of the day. I understand that all politicians do that to some extent, but he was so spineless that it was a wonder he could stand up.
benson, that is depressing. Makes you understand why voters mostly sit out. Unfortunately now voters are paying for “sitting out” and thus explains the appeal of tea partiers.
benson- what did you not like about Pataki. I thought he was nebbishy and boringly bland. Agree about Carter (also somewhat with BHS in Carter). I’m adding Bush the younger to that worst list.
I get such amusement watching women walk in ‘too high for them’ heels. Their knees always look like they’re about to buckle. I want to go up to them and just give them a slight nudge to see them tip over.

Bxgrl,

I can deal with heels up to 3 inches but feel like I am slanting forward when I walk. Used to love platform shoes until I turned my ankle in them.

When women buy high heeled shoes they should also buy matching lingerie.
What are ‘platform’ heels???
