Oh yeah, that’s right, because Iraq was responsible for 9/11. Seriously, I think one of the legacies of Bush II is and will continue to be Iran’s vastly increased power and influence in the region because of all of the power vaccuums and chaos Bush created for Iran to maneuver into. And I really think it is wrong to let Bush off the hook for pre-9/11 intelligence failure. They had enough to ramp up their guard but did not take the threat seriously enough.
Anyway, back to Carter — I still don’t see what gets him below a gentleman’s C and into worst 5 of all time.
You are all very focused on current events. The top 5 worst presidents probably all served before 1900.
Carter also leads the pack of former Presidents who don’t know how to STFU after their term has ended.
The last thing the sitting President needs is some former president mouthing off on current policy.
Bush II has, to his credit, respected that unspoken,
gentleman’s agreement. Carter has taken it upon himself to recast his role as some sort of internationalist with a Home Depot apron.
The best thing he can do right now is drink a case of
Billy Beer and scratch his nuts.

Bush sorta kinda dealt with the problem headon. goibng into Iraq was far more destabilizing than helpful and was not necessary. Iraq and Iran hated each other and that was also to our benefit. Now? A hot mess. Bush dealt with it by making it worse.
As for Israel- and make no mistake, i am a true supporter of Israel- Israel has taken advantage of us in the last few years. I blame the ultra orthodox right wing that has been gaining more and more power. religious extremists have no place in government- not here, not in Israel or anywhere else. Yes, Israel is our one true friend in the ME- and they have taken serious advantage of that fact- now it’s creating problems, not helping.

The answer to the question of worst President is so subjective and obviously dependent on how each individual was directly impacted (as best as this can possibly be measured).
There are a hundred thousand dead Iraqis who would surely think George W. was the worst of all time just as there are a million dead Vietnamese who would say Johnson was the worst. And so on…
