BHS, your post was a classic statement of moral equivalency. Everyone’s equally right and wrong kind of thing. No, people are almost never equally right and wrong.
I agree with you Ishtar. I know a number of sanit workers, and they are some of the biggest hearted, most hardworking people I know. They have a crap job and get no respect.I don’t know a single person on the OT who would work under the conditions they do. Certainly not the lawyers 😉
I was not here, so I have no proof one way or the other. I do know that I read stories of both Sanitation and MTA employees putting in very long shifts to get the job done.
I also know from experience with natural disasters in both the Gulf Coast and California that there are public employees who really rise to the occasion in time of need.
I don’t think that unionized government employees here are that much different here than elsewhere.
Funny, jackal. I’d better stop now, before I start contemplating how this convo will affect how you put down wounded and sick farm animals in the future.
I believe the number of workers who showed up and did their job outnumbers those who didn’t. We just have an unfortunate situation of enough jackasses being jackasses and having a substantial impact. Of course I have absolutely no proof of this. I simply believe that people in general aim to do the right thing.
“The other day an 18 year old Korean massage therapist asked me if I wanted a happy ending and I broke a plate glass window trying to escape before she shot me.”
New York is a great place to lose one’s hoarding tendancies. I went from storing virtually everything I ever had since childhood to becoming a minimalist.
ha ha biff,
does that mean you are in the Pro- Recessed Lighting camp now?
Wait, slope, that’s not a happy ending? The other day an 18 year old Korean massage therapist asked me if I wanted a happy ending and I broke a plate glass window trying to escape before she shot me. She had been petting and saying nice things, so I knew what was next.

I’m going to go read the Old Testament now.
