  2. *rob* the church was Christian. Only Christians have communion which represents the body and the blood of Christ. For some denominations it is symbolic, others believe that when you eat the wafer and drink the wine they actually becomes the body and blood of Christ.

  3. quote:
” all we ever talked about in those classes was the importance of night “quarreling””

What’s that mean, rob? What’s night quarreling?

i meant “not” quarreling, not night quarelling. or maybe a freudian slip, who knows.

  4. I agree, tithing is not a bad thing. I did it for a while at one of the churches I attended. It really helps you think about what the money means, as a way of giving back to God a very small (10%) portion of the blessings you’ve been given. Considering you can’t put a price tag on family, friends, health, and all of the other intangibles in our lives, a mere 10% of one’s income shouldn’t be too difficult to freely give.

Now so-called prosperity theology is a whole other animal, one I don’t want anywhere near me. To think you can con the Creator of the Universe into giving you a big house, and a fancy car, and other material goods is conjones of a major sort. I really don’t understand the mindset of people who freely give hucksters in a collar their money, knowing that the money is going into that “preacher’s” lavish lifestyle. That, to me, is amazing, and also very sad.
