My partner in Philly says I have a lot of “rules” about things I will or won’t eat but I remind him that they are “tastes, not rules.”

Ha ha, cobble. We should compare notes sometime. I was comparing notes with a guy who grew up the same way and he said that it is part of the immutable universe of rules, that goes also with being Catholic.
She had Saturday charts for the kids to do “chores”. They were prominently posted and we were imprisioned until they were done. She had rules for making beds, for spagetti, for speaking to people….i.e. never say “Whoz zis?” on the phone…..say…..”Who may I ask is calling?” I used to wonder if these rules were universally categorically TRUE or if it was just her….
