Benson, you get the usual riff-raff, who drink too much and then act barbaric. But I really LOVE the games. To me it is like opera. I just LOVE it. (I think I have those things in common with Giuliani – love of Yankees and opera). Also, I know a wonderful Caribbean restaurant where you can get awesome jerk chicken on Girard avenue, we fill up there and don’t eat at the Stadium. The new stadium is really nice.
Legion, I will try that. It really sounds lovely. It would really make me feel good to lose that bad experience. I always loved getting out on the water.
dona,
that sounds like a harrowing ordeal.
I don’t blame you for being hesitant about
venturing back on a boat.
Jamaica bay is a good place to practice though,
not exposed to the open ocean, although Breezy Point
is unpredictable.
The Parks program stays in the calm areas, but there’s always a good breeze and on a nice summer evening
it’s great.
In Flusing Meadows park there’s a large lake where
you can rent a small 12 foot sail boat or just a row boat.
It’s hard to get to but fun and a unique setting with the Grand Central Parkway on one side and the Van Wyck on the other.
You would be surprised. I used to organize a trip to the Yankees once a year at my previous place of employment. I grew increasingly disgusted of the whole thing as time went by, as did many of the people who went with me.
And how easy is it to get those tickets? And assuming I get them, how much will the food cost me? And how about the lovely crowd at Yankee stadium? The true sport is counting how many F-bombs get thrown out per minute.
A pretzel? More likely an atomic bomb 😉
I am not, legion. i have something to attend to here.
Brownstoner announced the closing of the Philly site.

dibs,
I thought you guys were at lunch?
bxgrl,
I picture you throwing a pretzel at an opposing team from the bleechers. 😉
yes, benson, the crowd at a Yankees game is deplorable.

I don’t see benson in the Bronx (let alone cheering the Yankees!). He’s still pissed the Dodgers left Brooklyn 🙂
Donatella;

No thanks.
