Slopey – Why do you think Mr. B put the plumber thread front & center?
Arkady — Not sure and not sure I agree with DIBS. Perhaps he didn’t read closely and thought it was a chance for MP to get more public props. And I would be surprised if Mr. B connected the other threads. But kind of a bummer that the factually inaccurate slur about MP’s charges is on the home page but you have to click through to get the rebuttal.
Kind of like republican campaign propaganda. The outrageous allegation gets much more play than the disproof and sticks in people’s minds as a result.
One of the Thomas Watsons who made IBM what it is (I forget if it was Sr. or Jr.) would not permit any posters or slogans to be placed on the walls, except one. That one slogan was the simple word “Think”. To this day, when you visit an IBM facility, that one word is emblazoned on the wall of the incoming vestibule. I think it was the best “slogan” (if you will) ever created.
Hey do I look like a trauma case or what? I guess I went through every freaking financial industry war since Bretton Woods. Enron and the 2008 end of the world were my favorites.
Arkady, I am as cynical as they come about all that corporate sloganry. I actually think I squint my eyes and sneer involuntarily whenever I hear that SHIT.
The other BIGGEST F%@KING LIE I ever heard in a corporation is that we are “like family”. F@%K YOU. No company is a family, because if you believe that, you are in for a world of serious pain.
The other thing is when companies start sending you to moral building seminars given by perky psychologists who sit on desks, swinging their legs and asking you to bare your soul in groups. Again, I offer a respectful FUCK YOU. I have gone through the corporate slogan phase, escalating to moral building seminar to the next phase which is corporate meltdown/layoff more than I care to admit.
I told my economist friend/colleague about the latest in a series of these kind of experiences (I was sent to a leadership seminar in North Carolina) and I told her I was NOT GOING TO TALK. They would NOT BREAK ME. ha.
She sympathized completely and said she would pay not to go to one. No, she would take out a loan to pay not to go.

dona, yep. I liked orange county and enron. Very entertaining. 2008 too close for comfort.
