A. We live in a capitalist society. This is a good thing,
because we have seen the complete failure of socialist/communist societies time and again. Not to mention, they often end up killing millions of their own citizens. Think North Korea.
B. A capitalist society works on the basis of a simple rule of human nature, we are competitive. Without a goal and something to work towards, we tend to become aimless and we tend to seek things to occupy our minds. Often bad things.
C. Of course, unrestrained capitalism is a problem as well so unions are necessary to keep the checks on the management and to keep workers from being abused.
D. Unions are fine as long as they realize their place in our societal structure, that is; a check on the capitalist society.
E. Problems arise when Unions think they are a substitute for the capitalist societal structure and engine. Inherently they know that socialism works counter to productive society so many times it’s just a ploy to gain power. Ironically, this is often the result of having too much idle time on their hands from ripping off the workers and the owners in good times.
F. Once a union becomes the primary concern of a company, the capitalist model is inverted and it is not long for failure. Why? Because capitalism thrives on innovation, drive and competitiveness. Unions in their worst incarnation discourage that model for one of comfort at the expense of economic reality.
G. Cases in point : California and New York
*Note; This in no way excuses illegal behavior by management or ownership which has and should be dealt with harshly.
Lass call for Irish puns!
“dh…the anbiguity and uncertainty as to what taxes will be next year delays spending by small businesses. They don’t know what to budget for”
sounds like a big if. so once the tax cuts become permanent all small business will go on a hiring spree?
Legion, udoubtedly, some will not be able to follow the perfect logic of that whole argument.
Saints presarve us!

It’s unlikely my Irish puns will have anyone Dublin over with laughter.
I’ve heard enough about Ireland lately.
Put a Cork in it, already.
Before or after he was in jail, ENY????
Agreed, dibs. Ireland truly sauer about the krauts. that’s why they are in such a pickle.
