I agree totally with your thoughts on innovation. The challenge for America will be to transition from a manufacturing economy to some sort of new innovation economy. We are in the best position of any country in the world to make that transition but it will be disruptive and culturally difficult.

DCB is right. Numbers in employment are increasing, just not fast enough to move the unemployment rate down.
I care a lot about poverty in absolute terms, not so much about ‘the gap between rich and poor’.
