  1. Gem, I don’t care about Bristol, except to feel sorry for her. I wouldn’t wish Sarah Palin as a family member on anyone.

I just feel that society’s constant condemnation of anyone who isn’t supermodel thin is unfair, unrealistic and the last acceptable prejudice. If someone from another planet ever looked at our entertainment media, they’d think everyone on this planet was gorgeous and thin. Anyone who is not is ridiculed, or cast as some kind of freak. Yet, the majority of people in this country are not model thin, are not sporting six pack abs, yet they’ve gone along with the program, and spend a lifetime in self hatred.

I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life, and need to lose because of my health, not a desire to be “hot” or “talent”. That ship sailed. It would be nice to be considered on one’s worth, not what size jeans I wear.

  2. Damnit, I typed a post and Registration required and lost the post!

    — Benson, I think that Charlie Rangel shot himself in the head and disqualified himself as the Chairman of the Ways and Means committee and public office with his IRS mess and I think that he showed hubris and stupidity in his use of RC apartments. But he did a LOT for NY. I wouldn’t call him a “poverty pimp”. I think this end of his career is a tragedy because Charlie Rangel was a passionate advocate for NY and his district (war hero too).

    — I always thought New Orleans was a sort of horrible place. Too many drunks. I am scared when everyone is drunk. My theory is that most people in NOLA fit into two categories: alcoholics and those who suffer from fetal alcohol syndrome — i.e. mentally impaired in some way because of it. Its crazy. I used to always feel scared there. I like the history, Cafe du Monde Coffee and can never wait to go home.
