This is my approach to charity. I believe that charity begins at home, i.e. start with the circle right around you and do right by everybody and try to help people out with your time and assistance, help in terms of knowledge, emotional support and sometimes money. Then give money to charities you know and trust, which don’t skim off a lot for admin costs and are on the right side of your values. I give money to CFCA, which is the Christian Fund for Children and Aging, a great organization which educates kids and provides medical help for old people within the context of missions), also Catholic Charities, and to the Red Cross and to my church. I don’t feel like buying livestock. (It is for somebody in the US – damn, I know enough broke people in Brooklyn). I don’t know the organization and I don’t like being shook down at work, which is what it feels like. And why the hell can’t people buy one another little trinkets and make one another right AROUND HERE feel good???? Aren’t we all broke enough???? No to celebrate Christmas, we have to buy a fucking Yak?

Ugh….. still hung over from that night. All I can say is irish car bombs taste like mint chocolate cake and make you want more and more.
