  1. Pamela Andersen? Satmars? Are they making a comedy? Honesty- if you want to forward your mission, why have the least appropriate person do your outreach to a group like the Satmars? Then again, while I am very much in sympathy with most of PETA’s mission, I think they do more to damage themselves than help animals. Using Holocaust photos in a message campaign and tossing red paint on people wearig fur is not the way to convince people of our mission and make them want to join you.

  2. this really angers me… look at the rates, and you wonder why rents are so jacked up in this city and all over the place.. if a landlord can a guaranteed 1200 dollars a month for a studio, what incentive would they have for charging 900 even even if 900 dollars is the given rate? this hurts mostly queens, some parts of brooklyn, the bronx, and staten island mostly… it makes things so much more unaffordable for people who are not on section 8 to find inexpensive neighborhoods to rent in!!!

Below are the newly updated Section 8 Payment Standard for Section 8 tenants effective October 1, 2010. The Section 8 Payment Standards is the most Section 8 is willing to pay a landlord for an apartment.

Number of Bedrooms: 0 (studio) Section 8 Payment: $1,283

Number of Bedrooms: 1 Section 8 Payment: $1,387

Number of Bedrooms: 2 Section 8 Payment: $1,543

Number of Bedrooms: 3 Section 8 Payment: $1,899

Number of Bedrooms: 4 Section 8 Payment: $2,135

  3. That’s real funny, Pete. Does she really think they are amenable to lobbying by a shikse? Maybe if she shaved her head, wore a wig, dressed more modestly than she ever has in her life and talked to the women, she might get somewhere. Otherwise, it’s just mockumentary material.

  4. I stood across from the church (Queen of all Saints, near Clermont). It was fun. The people were looking for high 5’s going past and I had my hand out there; I loved how happy people were when you yelled out their name and encouragement. Next year I’ll get out there earlier.
