  1. “In my way of thinking, this is a disingenuous statement. Are you really interested in advising the Republicans on the best way forward, given that you are a fairly committed liberal?”

Sorry–stepped away for a while. Benson–this is not advice as much as it is analysis of what I think will happen to the Republican Party if they allow the Tea Party wing too much control. And believe it or not, as much as you might think I would “root” for that to happen to weaken Republicans I do not think that way. I would like to see the parties come together more and not give in to their more extreme wings. I don’t like to see the kind of rhetoric thrown around at Tea Party gatherings against Obama or the rhetoric thrown around at Sarah Palin by liberals. I am liberal, but I want a functioning government and I can concede that we need both parties to keep each other grounded in reality.

But more than anything I am just humming a happy tune that Ken Buck, Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, and Christine O’Donnell all lost. A victory for rational people everywhere.

(Death panels and alien Obama, anyone?)

If you really believe that mainstream republicans put this forth and/or believe this then I have to roll out the “moron” word.

You are a moron if you do.

  3. Really dave? Thanks for contributing nothing to the conversation.

So which non-Republican did you vote for? Or did you do the “moron” thing, as you call it, and vote straight Republican?

  4. My blog timing sucks. Why do I keep showing up in the OT during these painful and monotonous political discussions and I take off right before the porn talk starts, which is what happened yesterday?

dibs:The return of all the scum to the NYS assembly was ludicrous and shows how really stupid the electorate here is.

Interesting. The people are stupid when they elect your ‘scum’ but thoughtful and sending a message when they elect my rightwing ‘scum’. Hypocritical, somewhat?”

    AGREED!

Legion – I agree – I am not into Sheldon Nor Rangle at this point (however I do feel Rangle has done alot for Harlem development even if he was getting kickbacks) and Meeks I don’t know too much about – but the problem is no one runs against these guys to really stir the pot…

  6. >MIXED????? SOmeone’s got their head (I’ll be polite) in the sand.Classic Democratic spin!!!!!!!

It’s not spin, it’s a sad commentary on how the Reps put their message across so much resonantly than the Dems. But then the Dems never have had the take-no-prisoners style and never are good at telling outright lies which pretends to be the truth (Death panels and alien Obama, anyone?)

The facts about the health bill (additional coverage of millions, pre-existing condition reform, etc); that TARP basically worked; that a significant portion of the middle-class had a reduction in tax; and other ‘liberal’ effects are almost unknown to non-liberals.
