my grandfather used to have a velvet painting of an asian woman emerging from a lake, semi-naked, that my grandmother HATED! it’s more about women being uptight about their own sexuality and feeling inadequate. black and hispanic women don’t really have that, do they? asians even throughout history have always been seen as exotic. white woman, at least in america, still have that waspy puritanical outlook on life.
