  1. “Years ago the father of the bride was always expected to pay for the wedding.”

    Try marrying a bride whose father is still living in a third world country.

    I suppose I could have done the wedding there instead.

  2. annnnd I am back

    Rob – way to go with your white women statement – way to over-generalize!
    Bxgrl – loved your rebuttal though – haaaa perfecto!

    Akitas- can be very lovable – like Hachiko from Japan. Chows aren’t nasty – they are aloof and are very loyal to the family they live with, I think some chows are more friendly than others (prob Cgar’s dog and my husband’s dog growing up seemed to be very loving to all)
    but for all this dog talk – there is always someone who comes out with their story of “Oh I heard (fill in the blank breed of dog) are nasty,mean and bite.

    I think it’s safe to say that golden retrievers are probably the least capable of being nasty!

  3. bxgrl, it wont be an equitable distribution but something is better than nothing. remember, the city will be able to tax those big bonus $$$. it’s the poor saps outside of the area who has to fund this with their tax $$$ and get even less to no return on that tax $$$.

  4. M4L;

    I’d be willing to pay for the wedding. However, knowing my daughter, she’s not going to want to a big affair. She’s somewhat anti-traditionalist (can you imagine that I, Benson, have to have such a daughter?).

    I’ve been shocked to learn at some recent weddings I went to that the couple paid for the affair. Years ago the father of the bride was always expected to pay for the wedding.

  5. “yeah yeah, a good chunk of that 600B will be in the pockets of banks in the area. trickle down effect will be good for the area”

    Trickle down effect? Isn’t that akin to the mythical unicorn?

  6. benson, that is a big bonus. 53 and you’re cleared of the kids. are you going to be traditional and pay for a big wedding for her – ie not yet freed & cleared of $$$ for the kid yet?
