  1. I won’t be voting, for reasons of location.
Usually I try to vote on the Conservative line but make exceptions (e.g. voted for Bloomberg).
I think it’s just ridiculous hyperbole to describe Palin, Bachmann etc as terrorists, and counterproductive as well for people that oppose them.

I think the Dems are trying to set expectations so low for this election that they can hail anything short of a disaster as a sort of victory.

  2. I went to a democratic party fund raiser yesterday.

I am not a member of the democratic party. In fact I am an independent.

The fundraiser was hosted by a friend of mine who is one of the biggest developers in NYC, yet manages to fly below the radar. As far as I know he is not a democrat either.

The topic of the fundraiser was NY business incentives. Sheldon Silver was the guest speaker. There were a number of NY power brokers there.

Everyone came away with a heightened respect for my friend.

Now THAT was money well spent on his part!

  3. Much of the “wave” for this election has to do with Republicans winning back seats that were in traditionally Republican districts that Dems managed to pry loose in 06 and 08. However, that isn’t to say that this is the only factor. There is also the traditional “first term president loses seats” factor that is well documented, as well as a sense nationally that the economy is not recovering the way it ought to (which always gets dumped on the administration in power regardless of where and when the downturn started).

Most of the republicans who stand to win today are of the tolerable middle of the road variety but there are some truly notable and unfortunate exceptions. I will spend the day praying that Sharron Angle, Joe Miller, Patrick Toomey and Ken Buck do not get elected to the senate, though it looks like at least two of them will. a big night for the Dems would be “only” losing 50 seats in the house and holding onto the senate by a reasonable margin (53-47 or so) with the defeat of at least three of the really loathesome candidates listed above. This is about all I am willing to give myself hope for.

  4. Whoa, Dave, you are a brave man talking about the downside to ghetto living…..where is Clintonhillchill? He called me a trust funding, lilly-livered, gentrifying, elitist from Kansas the last time I complained about lack of retail and even starred me in his blog for three weeks….where is that clown anyway?

  5. Cobble, fellow cheapskate……I will check Key Food first….but I am going to be checking a few other places. I heard that Trader Joes has some really nice prepared foods…or semi-prepared.

I love Fairway, but believe it or not, I am getting sick of driving there. I drove about 1,000 miles all over Kansas, Missouri, Iowa and Nebraska last week and had a great time with not a moment of stress, but lately driving around Brooklyn trying not to run over people has become such a strain, sometimes I get the shakes.
