“I just re-looked (super carefully)” m4l said regarding Palin’s “qualifications”
Yes, m4l, I believe you looked “super-carefully” ha-ha.
Did anyone notice that Hillary has had a *new hair-do* in the last month or so? Kind of messy around the face and higher on top. Before dismissing this as a frivolous detail, check it from this angle. Everything in politics is done for a reason. It has been noted as an attempt to Palinize Hillary a little. If Hillary had some of Palin’s looks Hillary may have been pres a long time ago.
There are lots of right-wing French people (e.g. google Philippe de Villiers, the leading politician in Western France for the past 10+ years). I think the ‘socialist France’ thing is exaggerated, although the left is usually in a small majority.
Really? If you look beyond the terms, even the French “right” is left. You can’t easily hire and fire workers in France. The taxes kill, everything is hyper regulated.
The one place where “conservative” means something in France is when it comes to foreign policy.
The French conservatives in powerare simply a tad less socialist than the socialists.
Why would any “right” wing candidate, male or female, garner support from the “entrenched” left legion? Or vice versa? Not going to happen which is why we are in the pickle we are today. Too much partisanship not enough equanimity. There have been plenty of right wing women that have not been met with the derision that Sarah Palin has (and keep in mind that derision does not just come from the “left” but the center as well–this is a politician with an approx 30% approval rating). Christie Whitman did pretty well for herself politically and pulled in centrist voters from both parties, even Elizabeth Dole managed to appeal to centrists to a certain extent. Neither of those women were held in the contempt that Palin or Michelle Bachman are. Left leaning women being against Palin is about as surprising as left leaning black Americans being bummed out that Clarence Thomas was appointed to Thurgood Marshall’s Supreme Court Chair.

It’s not a scary place but the unemployment / underemployment that the US has experienced in the past couple of years has been an endemic thing there for the past 20+ years.

can we move beyond the partisan shit already? both parties fucked up and both are to be blamed.
Thank you M4L. Non-political comment. I now like the SF Giants. I really like the pitcher with the long hair, forgot his name.
Dittoburg, I have to stop drinking during the day. But your post was the most reasonable all day. Thank you.
Hillary could shed a few pounds around those hips & thighs. she doesnt have to be trim but just trimmer.
Ditto, how much would US life expectancy #s be if we strip out the bbq belt states?
I just realized that New Jersey has had governors named Christine Todd and Todd Christie. Does anyone over there have a last name?

“France, and the rest of Europe is dying.”
French life expectancy is about 2 years longer than US life expectancy, so looks like the US is dying first.
