  1. Reading that thread makes me think of something I’m often surprised about on this board: how posters who are otherwise so accomplished can be such novices to the mores of posting online regularly.

The numerical soup from pre-login days was a real chore to read. Names help because you have gut associations with them.

  2. What, pray tell, is the Wall Street Sauna? I can hazard a guess . . . Will I be happy at the end? . . . Hmmm, I should stop at Blue Diamond on my way home . . .

  3. “We should just probably officially grant you the title of PLUSA Librarian/Archivist/Keeper of the posts. ; )”

cobble, you can only give me more work if you give me more money. A title alone isn’t going to cut it.

  4. I have to say this is the single most unproductive day I’ve had since starting this job. I have no urgent deadlines today. I’m getting over being sick. I’m on one of my alternate desks. And it’s a Monday. Can’t wait til this day is over.

  5. There are 2 people I recognize in that thread with a moral certainty, but I’m not saying who or why.

And don’t even get me STARTED on Bold Type Guest!!! 😉

Tomorrow I’ll post the thread from a couple of months later, when Mr. B finally mandated registration.

I just don’t get the resistance, and it’s pretty funny to see Mr. B trying to explain to people that they can still hide beyond log in names.

It’s just so much nicer – and easier – to curse out people by name. I mean, I’d much rather say, “STFU jackal” than “STFU 11:32 #2”.

  6. Corner pieces are the absolute best!!
Haven’t there been more than 2 UHauls? I remember being at one but it wasn’t the first & it wasn’t the protest one.

  7. Brooklyn Heights is really great at Halloween too. Lots of decorations and I doubt there’s a more popular/busy street in all of Brooklyn than Garden Place. Literally thousands of kids pass through there.
