Everybody likes to say they are for big infrastructure, but when the rubber meets the road, the East Coast NIMBY’ism comes out.
What was the reaction on Brownstoner when the State DOT said that they might have to tear down a couple of brownstones in Brooklyn Heights to make the BQE a modern highway? And how long has it taken for the first off-shore wind turbine to be approved off of Cape Cod? Ten years, if anyone is counting.
By contrast, wind turbines are going up by the dozens off the Texas coast, and these projects were initiated only a couple of years go.
Face it. Folks on the East Coast talk a good game. That’s all it is, however: talk

Seeing all the things China is doing is very distressing. Bullet trains, supercomputers, wind turbines, massive infrastructure projects. They are doing what it seems that we used to do but don’t do any longer–think big. Real big. What was the last piece of interesting infrastructure built here? The Willis Avenue Bridge? Gonna be interesting to watch the Tappan Zee Bridge replacement. I wonder if I’ll be alive to see it”

etson, you’re right. B’way doesnt get scary looking till much further down AND after sun down
CGar, after you do that walk in bushwick, I’ll have my $$$ ready for my half of that BK House
My first introduction to Brooklyn in 2007 was walking around Broadway at the Myrtle JMZ stop!!!
Broadway does not strike me as a scary street to walk down. Unless you’re talking 3am or something.

I couldn’t agree more!
“rf, the day CGar walks down B’way in Bushwick is day I can afford a house in BoCoCa / BK heights”
You’re on, m4l. I’m fearless. Stupid, perhaps, but most definitely fearless.
Ah well, time to walk da dumb dog…
CGar, stand down as Biff’s HOT friend is apparently freaking Happily Married. Pray the hot sister is single.
