  1. 1st – what real motive would she have to put herself through this ordeal on made-up charges? And if come up with motive – is there anything to back up she is like that.
2nd – her charges, statements were detailed and not simplistic or cliche. Who comes up with ‘pubic hair in the coke’ —
a stupid remark a jerk might make but not something someone(charger) creates out of nowhere.

Would need to believe she is unbalanced/mental problems to do have made the claims – whereas not that unbelievable in that place/time for male to behave as he was charged.

  2. Bxgirl, I can only explain it as my gut feeling and then watching the hearings, etc. I just didn’t and still don’t believe her. She did not appear credible to me, her timing was highly suspicious (and yes, I am well aware that many victims of various forms of abuse speak out only after the abuse is long over). If any of the events she described did take place, I also don’t believe that she was not a willing participant. My being convinced that she’s lying should be no more shocking than anyone believing she’s being honest.

  3. Re sexual harrassment being accepted more in the past:

There is a school of people that might think that Clarence Thomas DID like porn, make randy jokes to his employees, bloviate on and on about sex and generally make the women feel slimy and creepy and awful. BUT that, hey, why try to RUIN a guy over it. Clarence Thomas’ behavior as told by AH is our modern defination of sexual harrassment. That is what it was like for professional women in many work environments for a long time. I always believed Anita Hill. I think it was a legitimate question if you want a guy like that as a Supreme Court justice. I have learned to see past a lot, though, having grown up in a very rough industry. There are people you can walk away from or more satisfyingly tell to STFU, but when your boss is in your face with sexual stuff you are NOT INTERESTED in and has the power to hurt you, that is something serious.

  4. “Look how many neurotic, paranoid people there are here. has any of it helped?????????”

Well, dave- first they have to go to the therapist. Then they have to actually want to be helped. I know people for whom therapy is a hobby and others who are truly helped.
