  1. *rob*, you work near there. Better to go right next door to Ceci Cela and get their chocolate cake. It’s a lot better. They also have a choco. Raspberry cake which is pretty darn good. And the Opera Cake is yuuuuummy.

That place (Best Chocolate Cake…) was a rip off, while the cake was good, not the best. I won’t go back. Won’t even think about the cake. I sometimes have cravings for specific chocolate stuff I’ve had around town, that cake won’t be one of them.

I literally crave Choco. Rm. cake and sometimes go out of my way to get it.

  2. I would love to just completely retract my comment to ishtar about tin huts and all that. From now on I’m going to pretend my evil twin wrote it. Waaaay too difficult and touchy and painful a subject to play around with in that way.

  3. Make your own chocolate cakes….very easy recipe….

Jean Georges Warm Soft Chocolate Cakes

    Makes 4 individual cakes

8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, plus more for molds
2 teaspoons all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting molds
4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, preferably Valrhona
    2 large whole eggs
    2 large egg yolks
    1/4 cup sugar

    Directions
1.Butter and lightly flour four 4-ounce molds, ramekins, or custard cups. Tap out excess flour; butter and flour them again, and set aside.
2.In the top of a double boiler or heat-proof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, combine butter and chocolate; heat until chocolate has almost completely melted.
3.In the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment, beat together eggs, yolks, and sugar until light and thick.
4.Add melted chocolate mixture, and beat to combine. Quickly beat in flour until just combined. Divide batter evenly among the molds.
5.Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place filled molds on a rimmed baking sheet, and bake until the sides have set but the centers remain soft, 6 to 7 minutes.
6.Invert each mold onto a plate, and let rest 10 seconds. Unmold by lifting up one corner of the mold; the cake will fall out onto the plate. Serve immediately.

    ABSOLUTELY THE BEST

  4. “And if you agree with that, then surely you agree that if the Europeans had not arrived in Africa, eventually the Africans would have arrived in Europe?”

As a matter of historical fact, they did arrive in Europe. Moors, Spain……

Human nature being what it is, aggresive war-like cultures are going to try to conquer those they see as weaker. Some cultures would have tried trade over swords, we’ll never know.

However, the difference in the whole equation is the mindset of the conquerer to the conquered. The Romans, for example, did not think the people they conquered were inherently inferior. They adapted Greek architecture and culture, they took the best of other cultures, including their soldiers, and most valuable citizens, and gave them the opportunity to become Romans. Their system of slavery was no fun for the slaves, but slaves were never seen as non-human, no matter their race or religion.

Europeans KNEW that Africans were as human as they were, but by declaring them sub-human, chattal, animals and livestock, simply because of the color of their skin and their non-Caucasian features, they were able to justify anything they did to them, and started us down the road to where we are today, still battling for equality.

Had Africans invaded Europe in the same way, would the same thing have happened? I don’t know.

  5. lechacal, that’s not the basis for a colonialist expansion beyond your lands. All they wanted was the other tribes’ women and skins. Like MM said, the indians had no culture of land ownership.
