Gem, do not watch the Ed show. I suspect you may be watching that. That man makes my skin crawl – he is a hysterical, mean, doomsayer. And dumb. Turn on Channel 13 if you have to watch news. When I come home sometimes at 6, I’ll do that because I cannot stomach that fool on MSNBC.
My favorite thing to make – black bean soup. I’ve been adding and subtracting ingredients and have settled on this.
Sautee lots of diced onion and chopped carrot and chushed chili pepper. Toss in cumin. Toss in diced garlic but don’t sautee the garlic too long. Add a couple of cans of black beans. Simmer for a half hour or so. Add a handful of chopped cilantro and squeeze in the fresh juice of a couple of limes. Salt and black pepper.
ET, cut up some onions and garlic and put in a sauce pan and cook until everything turns a little brown and then add what you have, put a bay leaf in and simmer for a while.
More garlic, more fresh basil, more fresh oregano. Can’t go wrong with that.
I have a cooking question too:
Who’s inviting me and the fuzzies to dinner tonight? I’m too lazy to cook and the wee ones are disappointed since they clearly saw me put chicken breasts in the fridge to thaw.
Brown some hamburger meat and set aside. Then start sauteeing chopped onion (lots, I love onion) with some crushed red pepper. Toss in diced mushroom and garlic. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Add the browned meat. Simmer to thicken. Add fresh basil and dried oregano. Salt and pepper.
olive oil, garlic, salt and pepper – let that saute – then pour in tomatoes
then it’s all about putting in copious amounts of oregano
let it simmer on LOW heat for 2 hours
at the end I put in parsely, red white – more oregano/Salt and pepper to taste
I put fresh basil on top when I serve it to people

OK ET, well at least add some basil.
The way I like to do it:
Brown some hamburger meat and set aside. Then start sauteeing chopped onion (lots, I love onion) with some crushed red pepper. Toss in diced mushroom and garlic. Add crushed tomatoes and tomato paste. Add the browned meat. Simmer to thicken. Add fresh basil and dried oregano. Salt and pepper.
