Amazing weekend. Went to Vermont. Saturday I walked around in the woods with my kids, then there was a b-day party for my nephew, which consisted of cider pressing (with our apples and an old school cider press that my brother in law found in an old barn somewhere), then a hike to the top of a mountain, no trail at all, just walking through the woods. Then we went and saw the pigs with the new piglets, and then saw a sawmill, then potluck dinner with the whole family.
Yesterday there was more walking around in the woods, built a miniature teepee with the kids, then the kids and I helped my dad weigh some cows and bring them to the slaughterhouse. Got a tour of the slaughterhouse with the kids. Did you know that the blood and guts go to dog food? Then more walking around in the woods before we got back in the car to come back to brooklyn.
There was a used car salesman in Toronto back in the day whose last name was Paladino. The ads ran often on TV and the slogan was “Any Paladino is a pal o’ mine.”
The used car salesman seemed less of a caricature than the gubernatorial candidate.
DCB, did you ever consider or looked at hoboken? I never did till 1 of my buddies told me he drove thru the area for some prelim research of the hood and told me it’s a lot nicer than the already nice impression he had of the hood. bypassing the NYC income tax was enough to absorb the higher ppty tax and the higher commute cost (ie the path cost; on top of the nyc subway cost).

Actually, the most important thing in the world to me right now is that we are fast coming upon the end of tomato season. 🙁
