  1. ringo- you can have gold but the undertones that mitigate the yellow will be black and red. You have to get samples- if possible and try the color in daylight and evening because there is no other way to test how the color changes.

See if you can get a color percentage breakdown for the colors you are interested in.

Dave- what was ridiculous about that story? Her unemployment benefit was based on her salary. It’s an insurance benefit which she paid for – not an entitlement. What was sad is that she found a job and is making less- which says something about the job, not unemployment.

  2. jackal, I just emailed you what I won’t post.

Legion, have you MET me??? Don’t you think I’ve tried the nice approach, lol??? Cold and stone-faced every time I try. Avoids saying good morning, good night, any pleasantries, so I make sure to go out of my way to extend them to her every chance I get.

Some people are just miserable; take pleasure in being miserable; and take even greater pleasure in making other people’s lives miserable.

  3. cobble, it’s like the story of that woman who was making more on welfare than what she is now making at her job. The entitlement programs are simply out of hand. It’s ridiculous.

That is not an indictment of the welfare system, which barely pays a living stipend. It’s an indictment on the low wages for the kinds of jobs most welfare recipients can get. Which is why job training for high paying jobs is neccessary. Let’s not blame the victim, here.

  4. “I think the committee was happy to give the award to an American who embodies what America is supposed to stand for.”

    No taxation without representation??
In all seriousness, I think fawning attitudes such as yours towards any politician are dangerous.

So, Legion and Dave, let me get this straight.

If we leave the free market to fix itself, then all of our problems will be solved. When that doesn’t happen fast enough, then it’s the gov’ts fault for not doing anything. As in “don’t regulate us, we’re the engines of the economy…..you have to save us, we screwed up, but it’s your fault for not regulating us better”.

I love it that in your world, that people (read poor people, and people who rely on gov’t programs like Medicare, food stamps, and unemployment) should be more accountable for their actions, but big business, insurance companies, the financial sector, etc, should be exempted from that personal and fiscal accountability.

    NO.
    WRONG!

    ok, I’ll be back.

  6. CGar, forget Magnolia, get her something from Crumbs. Maybe she’ll make the subtle connection; a crumbly treat for a crumby boss trying to crumble your career.

Seriously, not sure what can help at this point. You’ve gotten great feedback from everyone but her and, from all I’ve heard, she sounds like a very bitter and cruel person whom will likely not be killed by your kindness. As I’ve said before, start looking. No job is worth the stress and abuse you’re taking.

  7. ringo, find a color you like and then use the one that is one shade lighter.

Otherwise buy a few “testers” and try them first. You shouldn’t be painting the whole room before you’ve determined you don’t like the color.

  8. one more point,

    CGar,

Knowing the kind and friendly person that you are, I’m sure you’ve tried the nice approach with your boss.
Have you tried the direct discussion approach?

When I was a resident, the chief resident had it in for me,
probably because I deserved it, but that’s another matter.
So basically he was blaming me for serious mistakes that he made.

I finally cornered him in the OR lounge and let him have it, calling him out on his dishonesty. I also told him something like I would be meeting him outside if he continued.

Unfortunately, the Residency Director was in the changing room within earshot and I got in even bigger trouble and I never got the chief resident spot because of it. But that’s another story. And now my story seems like more of a warning for what not to do.

So really my only advice would be to appeal to their good nature. There has to be something to work on there.
