Snaps – I understand – we are all in the same boat it seems just in different careers. It makes me mad when the media reports the job market is picking up etc etc – b/c you know what – it really hasn’t and we are all competing now against other top notch people.
There’s lots of people who take their time in New York and then move on to bigger, better things. The city with its endless distractions can be a detriment to a lot of things.
“*rob*, I have to say sometimes you really piss me off and really push your luck with me. I can take plenty of joking. And I have no problem with people who don’t like me.”
CGar, if you don’t like it, you can always move down to the messenger center. You can go to the post office, the bank, and on the rare good day, take a trip to Brooks Brothers and see how the other half lives. Works for some of your friends 🙂
Ishtar – I love generalizations – but to agree to your point
I was SOOOOOOO sad when I went to visit my husband’s family in rural Alabama(remember they are black) and they had these 2 dogs outside who looked all sad and mangy. But they were fed but were kept chained up and only had a little dog house to go in when it rained. I wonder though if it’s not a race thing -maybe farm people do it – b/c come to think of it – my grandfather kept “King” outside on a chain every day however this was in Whitestone, Queens not some farm in Ireland where he grew up. The poor dog would lunge at everyone that came to he house barking like crazy and was just so sad and angry
what a horrible thing to do to an animal
Gem, at this point I’d practice *any* kind of law. Problem is that now with the bad job market and the oversaturation of unemployed attys, companies are really getting super picky about who they will hire for what. When it comes to any given area of law, particularly the more specialized things like entertainment, patent, securities, etc., they won’t even look at you unlesss you have 10+ years experience doing exactly that for a huge firm. When you’ve dabbled, as I have, it gets harder to stand out amongst the job applicant crowd, and that’s what’s impeding my progress now.

Snappy, is employmt odds better there than here or at least comparable (ie hence the lower cost of living is worth it to move)?
