  1. Gem, I think it’s like anywhere, there are good places and bad. The entire country is not overrun by gangs. Sadly, almost everywhere you do see security bars on windows, even in the country. The gap between the haves and have-nots creates a poverty we can’t even imagine.

  2. quote:
Actually I read due to the violence in Jamaica that is now targeting seniors returning back home to Jamaica to retire b/c the gangs know they have money – many Jamaicans are thinking twice about retiring in Jamaica

    same thing with brooklyn heights.

  3. Ringo, I see your point. That second “bedroom” is rather useless; it should just be folded into the MBR and sold as a 1 bedroom. But what a beautiful apartment in a great location — great original woodwork and nice looking reno. Also cheap maintenance. And doesn’t appear to be “no dogs allowed”.

  4. people should NOT be allowed to go to another country and spend their social security money. they should have to spend it here. yes you can go to another country, but you arent getting paid.

  5. Donatella, sorry I missed you, I really was all over the place, trying to check in at every stop and making sure everyone had whatever they needed. I didn’t wake up until 10:30 on Sun. morning. I was exhausted.

On Caribbean retirement, I’d love a place in Jamaica, far up in the Blue Mountains. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to in my life. I could retire quite happily there, although I’d have to come north to catch some seasonal weather. I can’t do eternal summer.
