They’re there, but you can’t trust a source that also says,
“The official platform for the Republican Party of Maine is now a mix of right-wing fringe policies, libertarian buzzwords and outright conspiracy theories.”
I’m finding a lot more press for the Contract From America, link here:
etson- “taking someone out” means assassinating them. Had she said “vote him out” that would have been far different. And please don’t tell me that she could not have known the impact of her rhetoric. The extreme rhetoric and ideas of the various Tea Party groups is exactly what’s so terrifying about them.
I think bxgrl did a nice job of responding to each element of the platform (again, not sure that’s the exact platform, it’s not like I pay much attention to the tea partiers).
Hal…the markets went up because it was clear that the TARP (which, if you remember was the product of the BUSH administration) was not going to let ALL of our financial institutions fail.
It was a very specific program that took very specific actions to shore up bank balance sheets. Obama had nothing to do with it. More importantly, ad per this discussion, nothing as specific or as substantive has come out of the Obama administration. HE DROPPED HE BALL on a stimulus plan that could have actually worked (cutting payroll taxes) and was supporrted by most economists.
Additionally, the market went up because it was clear that it had gotten ridisulously cheap on a frenzied selloff. In fact, the 7 months between when the DOW was 9,000 and went down to 6,600 and then back to 9,000 was one of the fastest falls and recoveries ever recorded for any stock market.
Frankly, I’m really happy it occurred as it gave me a great opportunity to restructure everything I owned on the way up.

Still at it? Solved anything yet?
That was interesting Slopey, the Maine Tea Party platform.
Are people debating that platform?
back to the real world….
jester — I know it is a liberal blog, but there is a link to the platform. Are those elements not in there?

Not that hard, people. Not that hard.
