“lech- what means this? “it’s not surprising at all that it has not recurred independently of the original evolution of our species.”
Think of evolution as being driven by a random event generator. Genetic mutations are the random events. If the mutation leads to disproportionate reproductive success, it propagates through the species.
The long series of genetic mutations that has resulted in our species were all random events. The idea that this same random event chain can be recreated in another source species is not without precedent but I expect is highly unlikely for our species.
This is why it is not at all surprising that we are not seeing monkeys evolve into humans in the present day. In other words not surprising that human evolution has not REcurred.
But like I said, what do I know. I didn’t go to a good elementary school.
…uhh,
bxgrl,
you just argued that I was condescending to you,
while starting your polemic with the line:
“legion- you aren’t smart enough to argue like MM or I. ”
that made me laugh, really. 🙂
..and what’s wrong with throwing in some science and math?
I thought you liked those references.
I bring them in because they tend to put our petty differences into perspective. At the base of all my arguments is a real attempt at reconciliation.
MM…I may have worded it poorly. In essence, he was DEFINING a very narrow minded, racist and ignorant view of those issues, not one that republicans in general believe.
What Legion said at 1:59 in addressing each one of cmu’s bizarre takes on what he thinks republicans believe in^^^^
Surely the liberals here will tell us these people don’t represent their views. And surely they understand that fringe conservatives likewise do not represent the conservative mainstream.
In The Roots of Obama’s Rage [Forbes], D’Souza says that the president “adopted his father’s position that capitalism and free markets are code words for economic plunder.â€
In the book, “The End of Racism,†D’Souza writes, that the “American slave was treated like property, which is to say, pretty well.
Gingrich called the article profound and said Obama has a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” worldview,
These are facts. Not ad hominem attacks.
I am sorry to note that this twerp is an upper-class Indian from Bombay and that his early education did not take. Now, *that’s* ad hominem.
“Some of the transplants are nice and “GET” the fact that they are living in a special place. A very special place.”
donatella, that’s certainly how I was when I lived in Carroll Gardens, and I won over all of my old Italian neighbors, who had lived there for generations, and who live 3 generations in a house. It took some time, but I warmed to them, and they warmed to me, and even though I moved off my old block, I’m only 8 blocks away and still see them all the time.

he’s saying its not suprising human beings didn’t evolve, separately, twice.
