Oh that’s right rf, we had an off OT exchange of pleasantries a while back. That was before you called me a schmuck and decided that repeatedly pointing out that I’m a white guy, as if that completely disposed of entire lines of discussion, was an acceptable substitute for reason.
Benson, we don’t really know the chronology of who knew what when about Palladino, do we? One thing is for sure, that any kind of news about affairs, skeletons, pecadillos of any kind will be unearthed by opposition research. There will be no secrets. And who knows about the man’s marriage, but for sure he needs his wife’s support to run so he could have chosen to control how she found out. But who knows really?
I was being pretty tongue in cheek prez as I’m sure you know. My impression is that Rousseau’s intellectual heirs tend to be more to the left than, say, John Stuart Mill’s, of course to the extent you feel you can create some kind of false division in this manner.
lechacal, did they have big hippies in these years in which Rousseau lived (1712 – 1778)? 🙂 🙂 All I remember now and loosely paraphrased is that he thought the droning on of hours spent in school every day would ruin young people’s minds and creativity. I remember thinking that myself when I was in grammar school. 🙂 His own life was complicated, as you are reading, although I am not a scholar on his stuff.
Seriously, when you were offered the seat for your kid at 107, didn’t you say that you hadn’t considered public school before? I remember writing to you offlist about 107, where friends of mine have kids. And didn’t you say something about taking kid on train to school when Biff was asking about sending his kid to school in Manhattan?

Who’s doing whom bareback???
and of course it’s one thing to get something on the side, another to do it bareback. Lack of judgment there.
