You might even find a pedigree in a shelter, Benson. I never had a dog as an adult but I can say that it really was a heartbreaker losing my two cats who became ancient.

I also have some papers I want to donate to the 9-11 Museum at Ground Zero. Not sure why I saved them, and I’m sure a lot of people have similar papers to donate, but I have at least a dozen pieces of papers from the Towers that blew to Brooklyn on 9-11 and landed on my stoop, my roof, and in my garden.
is there some sort of demand for world trade center detritus?!
I’d love to get another Westie, because they are so cute, fun and rascally. Like many terriers, they don’t realize they are a small dog.
We will probably get a mutt at the North Shore Animal League, however, for two reasons:
-my daughter is struggling financially. The school where she was working let go of their staff, and she is having a tough time finding another job. I’d rather help her out than spend alot of money on a pedigree.
“that’s my biggest issue with dogs. love them but they dont live long enough. cant deal with them leaving so soon.”
Can’t that be a good quality though? The problem with dogs is they don’t always fit your life circumstances. In NYC this is especially problematic if you’re a renter and don’t know if you can have a dog in your next apartment. For this reason I propose the genetic engineering of dogs that live exactly 12 months (to match a one-year lease) or 24 months (to matcha 2-year lease). The time of death of course much be genetically hard coded and not changeable. Otherwise there might be some ethical issues.

Still under discussion.

-Mrs. Benson likes the idea of saving an animal.
