  1. “Sure, the current system works fine. Again, I’m not proposing to change anything.”

You’ve said this multiple times and no one cares. You want to change the system.

I for one think the system is about 80% rubbish. I do not want change because I have a sneaking suspicion that I will ultimately have children, despite my objections. I will need them away from me for at least 9 hours of the day.

  2. “If you had followed up “that’s ridiculous” with reasoning, I wouldn’t have picked on you for just calling something ridiculous.”

Again, your earlier statements really weren’t worth the effort. They weren’t the crown jewels you seem to think they are. You just enjoy picking on people, and I’ve never had the patience to spar with bullies. In fact, I’ve done enough of that for today. Bye.

  3. I actually agree with lech’ 3rd point – and the sad state of American education is proof. I don’t quite agree that school is a function of working parent’s needs. Kids do need education to function in today’s world. I think the days of bootstrapping without a good, advanced education are ove and if kids in this country are to compete globally, we need to get our heads out of our butts regarding curricula.

The Texas State Board of Ed is a classic example of what’s wrong with education.

  4. cmu – Sure, the current system works fine. Again, I’m not proposing to change anything. It’s really just a thought exercise to point out that some of the things people get exercised about really don’t matter all that much. I think it’s helpful to consider how radically different things could be without anyone really being any worse off. It helps put in perspective the smaller things that people get excited about within the currently accepted structure.

  5. Once again, I dont see the cookies, brownies, popcorn, and/or alcoholic drinks. Who the F is hogging the goodies? Dont make me stand up and search you out. For your own well being, pass the shit over ASAP
