I abandoned the Knicks when Pat Riley defected. I lost heart when they lost back then.
I love hoops, and I did not abandon my Knicks through many bad years (Glen Gondreczek (sp.?) anyone?) But Isaiah ruined it for me. I still keep an eye on them, and occasionally care if they do well, but not with a fan’s heart at the moment.
Ok, M4L, I save my love for the Yankees. Knicks, I gave up on a long time ago and I don’t like football. So my fandom is intense. I am going with a good friend who is great. He also loves the Yankees — his whole life, even though he grew up in Indiana. I have another friend I go with, he is even crazier (has box seats, goes to Yankees spring training every year), he yells advice to the manager from the stands. He pushes the envelope but he isn’t embarrassed when I sing God Bless America or Take me out to the ball game. The other guy, maybe a little.
