  1. “checking again, anyone else want to join the boyz for lunch this Fri at midtown?”

Count me in, with the caveat that I’m getting snipped on Thursday afternoon so I might be cranky / sore / walking cowboy style.

  2. Candy came from out on the island
in the backroom she was everybody’s darling
But she never lost her head
even when she was given head
She says, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side
said, hey babe, take a walk on the wild side

  3. i wish they had for halloween what they have for christmas, like those christmas savings accounts? forgot what they are aclled, but where you put in a little bit of money all year and take it out on christmas? do they still have those? was that a white trash / ghetto thing? i never hear about those anymore.. christmas club accounts i think they are called!!

    *rob*

Yes, Christmas Clubs. probably one of the biggest ripoff ever.

People nowadays use money market accounts, rob.

  4. If Mr. Obama says he is a believing, born-again Christian, then that’s what he is. If he said he was a devout Muslim, or a confirmed agnostic, or a Sephardic Jew, than that’s just fine, too. I have no reason to doubt his religious convictions, they are between him and God, not him and me, or the Republican Party, or the American people.

Religion used to be one’s own business for a leader, now it’s some kind of a measure of his/her character. Very few people cared about FDR’s religion, or Richard Nixon’s, for that matter. He was a Quaker, but did that have anything to do with what he did, or how he thought? If so, then are all Quakers paranoid, dupicitous people? Of course not.

Jimmy Carter, probably the most open about his evengelical Christian faith, certainly was no fan of the Religious Right, even though he believed the same things the holier-than-thou detractors did. They questioned his faith, too, when it suited them, which means it isn’t actually faith, or lack, or kind thereof, that’s in question, it’s the person’s politics or policies. Opposing those policies by wrapping onesself in the Bible is pure hypocrisy, and a smokescreen.

  5. “^^^^^^^^^^^^
I actually think the costume is clever, Biff. I’m just busting your chops for being super duper white about Halloween.”

Lech, no problem. What you said it true. I’m just glad you didn’t see me the years I dressed as Perry Como, Donny Osmond and Andy Williams.

  6. “Guess pasty and white are different things.”

Pasty is and always has been a species of the genus White.
Unfortunately I fall into that species. My son, having a healthy dose of pacific asian genes in him looks “white” but not at all pasty.
