My 88 year old father and I were discussing the mosque (…..ducking for cover…..) and hatred of Islam/ Islamophobia in the context of post-9-11 sentiment. Unprompted, he brought up the internment of Japanese-Americans as an example of what injustice we can perpetrate on innocent people when afraid and overly defensive.
Should I have said that? Are you going to beat up on my sweetheart father? In advance, bring it on. I’ll kick your ass (oh wait I am a lover of peace).
