  1. Oh, and I never advocated taking the post down. Here’s exactly what I said that day (my only comment in that thread)

How does one ‘hijack’ a public space? Hmmm? That’s what the space is there for no? And why are member of the South Slope Latino community to blame? Where there no white, black, asian, etc. people littering? Did you spend the day walking around and checking to see that only Latinos were littering? If you did, then your holiday sucked worse than mine and I’m in bed with the flu.

Mr. B, I realize it’s a holiday weekend for B’Stoner and you are likely relaxing with the fam, but damn, I thought these forum posts were vetted before being posted.”

  2. OH OK!
    this is friggin insane

Let Benson “Blogicide” again – he does this every few months when someone here ruffles his feathers.
    What an attention seeker

Like Snaps said – I too have learned a lot from the varying opinions here – I love the way way Lech delivers some of his statments, although I may not agree with him – he pulls no punches and he’s no BS – I like that!
I’ve learned a lot from people here on both sides. I appreciate MM and Bxgrl who are super articulate on the liberal side b/c they often say stuff I’m thinking!

  3. I know there are a lot of angry white folks around these days. They seem to look at affirmative action, the black president, the pervasive influence of black culture in mainstream culture, etc. and believe they’re “losing” something. And they are ANGRY about it. But as Chris Rock said, “If they’re losing, who’s winning?” There’s no question white people have long enjoyed many advantages generally denied to other races.

There are also a lot of black folks who quickly pin their own shortcomings on the “system” or on white people specifically, rather than focusing on hard work, responsibility and self-reliance. They way I look at it almost everyone is operating at some sort of disadvantage. If that’s all you focus on, you’ve lost from the start.

I agree with the notion that race is a man-made phenomenon. We are really all one “race” – human. I think we need to follow the example of Jack Johnson, the notorious black boxer of the 1920s. He said his solution was to act if there was no racial barriers at all, and go about life as if you are no better or worse than any other man. That’s what I try to do.

  4. I agree with Snappy that things said on blog means little to me – especially from people who dont know my name and/or I dont know theirs.

I like Benson cause the version I met face to face and chatted is someone I find common grounds with and can respect.
