eee gads Rob – I don’t think those families got any $$ out of it – I mean am sure they received pensions from their deceased partner – but that’s not making out like a bandit
that’s how death benefits are set up – I inherited my father’s pension when he died
gem, I agree with you. Very, very tragic on a historic scale but these people have no lives if they are not able to move on.
To this day, I cannot stand the sound of bagpipes. I lived in midtown and walked past St Patrick’s Cathedral on the way to work every day. Day after day for about 2 months, there was ALWAYS a funeral procession down 5th Ave to the Cathedral. Everyone would stop out of respect and it was eerily quiet except for the bagpipes. More often than not there was a firetruck and a riderless horse but no coffin…just someone carrying a very small box. It became very, very depressing to watch and to this day I can’t stand the bagpipes.

They did. 9-11 Victims Compensation Fund. Got settlements from federal government in lieu of suing airlines, etc.
I think I must be too young for the reference, Dave…? ;-P

I picture 11217 as Joe Gillis living in Norma Desmond’s house in the Hollywood Hills.

Gem, frankly? I wish it would just stop. All of it. And I’m dreading next year in advance.
