Dave,
Also did the LA -> Monterrey drive once many years ago…well actually all the way up to SF. Gorgeous. Stayed 2 nights in Santa Barbara as well…now that’s a gorgeous little place.
disclaimer: 9/11 post
I didn’t lose anyone in the 9/11 tragedy, but it really breaks my heart that so many families have to relive every year all the memorials and tributes and unveilings every year.
IS this good for them to “move on”? am not trying to sound cold – am just wondering if this is a good thing for these families to experience this intense grief year after year at these tributes?

Well, A. Lam is in LA. And I always enjoy visiting him!!! He’s the one I sang to over my cellphone at karaoke!!!
Thank you Jessi – I didn’t think so!!!!

every person I met seemed as though they were on an audition waiting to be DISCOVERED for something!
Because they are. That’s why they’re in L.A. You just have to accept that going in.
I’d rather go to Seattle than LA any day of the week. Or Portland.
But alas I was in SmelLA for business this time. Got in some pleasure sure, but I certainly don’t ever choose to go there.
I like Sf for the same reasons I like NYC…the restaurants and bars…and you can walk or take a taxi. The hotels are great, especially the small ones.
“every person I met seemed as though they were on an audition waiting to be DISCOVERED for something!”
That is the mass delusion of LA.
“In 2005 I drove from LA to Monterey on the Pacific Coast Highway in a convertible. That was spectacular.”
I’ve done SF to Monterey PCH, it is stunning. Would love to do the whole stretch from LA to SF over the course of a few days stopping here or there.
