  1. Never did I say Rutgers is a bad school. It’s a pretty good school in my opinion. All I was saying is that it’s not exactly Yale or Harvard whose graduates are positioned better to have those schools on their resumes for jobs in this economy. My point was that a person that I know with a fairly standard degree from a fairly standard school with a fairly standard experience and salary for her industry, was able to get 2 job offers within a month at very decent companies with decent salary and benefits. Of course, everything is relative.

  2. I was approached randomly about my current job. Probably not a move I would have thought of otherwise – good job, different location. A recruiter had my resume in their database from my previous jobsearch (the one when I was unemployed) and e-mailed me out of the blue b/c they were having trouble finding qualified people who would move. I was more than ready to change jobs (as many of you know in great detail) and things just came together gradually. Love the work and the colleagues here.

  3. Two more days and we may be dusting ourselves off from the smoke and scent of burnt qurans and the rage and fear it generated worldwide.

Is it possible to disagree with someone so strongly it literally makes you shake, and yet to feel sorry for him and to understand him at the same time? Because he reminds you of someone in your family you love but hate to love?

  4. Etson – you are exactly right – all of my interviews so far except one with Godiva was through networking with old coworkers and of course I had 2 interviews with my former company that laid me off – hahaha!
It’s hard out there – I wonder sometimes “oh, am I too over-qualified” or what is it that these companies aren’t interested in at least calling me in for an interview…
Also they all ask what are your salary requirements – I always state that I am negotiatble but I have giving a baseline $15K LESS than what I was making at my old job just so I don’t scare them off! – UGH

RF – my niece goes to Brooklyn Tech – I think she really llikes it – the kids seem a bit wild, but not in a scary way just sorta wild in personality, she’s certainly a piece of work – hahah

  5. quote:
That school is full of students who could have gone to a much better school, but opted to stay in state for the cheap tuition.

YES that is exactly what i did. i definitely could have gotten into a better school, but the price was right with rutgers and i got more in scholarship money and financial aid by staying in state.

i regret not majoring in the hard sciences tho 🙁 but i was too afraid of not getting A’s so i picked sorority girl waiting for a rich husband majors :-/
